About Early Steps

Early Steps is Florida's early intervention system for infants and toddlers from birth to age 3 who have developmental delays or a condition likely to result in a delay. The program is administered through the Florida Department of Health Children's Medical Services and provides services at no cost to eligible families.

Western Panhandle Early Steps serves families in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton Counties and is based at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Services are provided in the child's natural environment — home, childcare, or community — and focus on supporting families in building their child's skills during everyday routines and activities.

Children must be referred and evaluated to determine eligibility. If your child is not eligible for Early Steps or has aged out of the program, Childhood Interventions offers private developmental services — contact us to learn more.
